Additional Resources for Employers

There are many resources available for employers interested in hiring veterans, including job matching, training programs, tax credits and more.

The Registered Apprenticeships program provides flexible training to meet employers’ needs to retain a competitive edge.

On-the-Job Training gives employers the opportunity to be reimbursed for 50 percent to 90 percent of a new, eligible veteran’s salary for up to six months to assist with paying training costs, required tools, uniforms and supplies.

The Kentucky Career Center provides job-matching technology through on-line systems, Focus|Career™ for job seekers and Focus|Talent™ for employers, where intuitive and intelligent skill-based matching is performed instantly. Employers identify veteran candidates and receive inquiries from qualified veterans interested in serving on their team.

Hero 2 Hire (H2H) is a free Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) website that matches employers with veterans.

America's Heroes at Work is a toolkit to assist and educate employers who have made the proactive decision to include veterans in their recruitment and hiring initiatives.

VA for Vets helps Veterans and transitioning Military Service Members find federal or non-profit careers. The VA for Vets Career Center tolls provide opportunities to translate military skills, build federal resumes and search and apply for open positions. VA for Vets is the flagship initiative of the Veteran Employment Services Office (VESO). Please visit http://vaforvets.va.gov for more information.

Employers who have contracts (or subcontracts) of $100,000 or more with the federal government are required to take affirmative action to hire and promote qualified veterans. These employers must list their job openings with the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training so that qualified campaign veterans and special disabled veterans can receive priority referrals for those jobs. These employers must file an annual report with Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) showing the number of campaign veterans and special disabled veterans in their work forces.
